Energy-Efficient Window Retrofit in Flower Mound
The Challenge
This Bridlewood home had original builder-grade vinyl windows installed in 2006. While not visibly damaged, the windows had lost significant thermal performance over nearly 20 years. The homeowner noticed that the west-facing bedrooms were consistently 5 to 8 degrees warmer than the east side of the house by late afternoon, and their energy bills had been climbing steadily. They were interested in taking advantage of the federal 25C energy tax credit before it expired at the end of 2025.
Our Solution
We targeted the 8 worst-performing windows — all on the south and west elevations — and replaced them with Anlin Del Mar windows featuring foam-filled frames and sashes, Low-E366 glass, and argon gas fill. Every unit meets or exceeds Energy Star requirements for the South-Central climate zone and qualifies for the federal 25C energy tax credit. We also upgraded the weatherstripping to Anlin's triple-seal system and applied new flashing at every opening to eliminate air infiltration paths.
The Result
The homeowner filed for and received $1,200 in federal energy tax credits on their 2025 return. The west-facing bedrooms now stay within 2 degrees of the rest of the house throughout the afternoon, eliminating the need to run a portable fan. Their July energy bill — historically their highest — came in 18% lower than the previous July. They are now planning to replace the remaining windows in 2026.
