Bay Window Conversion in Southlake
The Challenge
The homeowner had a large flat picture window in their living room that provided a view of the backyard but felt architecturally flat compared to the rest of their Clariden Ranch luxury home. The single-pane glass offered poor thermal insulation, and the room always felt colder in winter and hotter in summer than the rest of the house. They wanted to add visual depth and usable space without a full room addition.
Our Solution
We engineered a custom Andersen E-Series bay window configuration with a center picture window flanked by two operable casement windows for ventilation. The unit features Low-E4 SmartSun glass engineered for the Southern climate zone, a copper-tone roof panel that complements the home's existing exterior palette, and an interior hardwood seat board with storage access below. The installation required structural header modification, new support brackets, and complete flashing integration with the existing brick veneer.
The Result
The bay window transformed the living room into the home's focal point, adding approximately 8 square feet of usable shelf and seating space. Natural light now reaches deeper into the room, and the operable casement flankers provide cross-ventilation the old picture window could never offer. The homeowner described it as the single improvement that had the biggest impact on how the room feels day-to-day.
